PHUKET BOATSHOW CLOSES ON HIGH NOTE
As PIMEX 2005 closed on Sunday 11 December, exhibitors were in excellent mood. At least 12 boats were sold during the show and initial estimates of solid sales achieved amount to approximately US$ 4 million. Dealers and brokers all reported new contacts made and strong leads to follow up from serious buyers.
“I have not stopped talking to serious visitors since the show opened on Thursday,” said an elated but weary Craig Murphy of Sunseeker dealers, Max Marine Asia at the show’s ‘Farewell to Exhibitors’ party.

QUALITY OF VISITORS KEY CHARACTERISTIC OF PIMEX 2005
“We’re going to be run off our feet for the next six to eight weeks responding to the first two days’ enquiries,” said Tom Burland of Asia Superyachts, commenting that the quality and variety of visitors was excellent. MAJOR PLAYERS USE PHUKET BOATSHOW FOR REGIONAL LAUNCH
As the organizers get ready to open the gates to the third Phuket Boatshow on Thursday 8 December, advance visitor registrations and the industry ‘buzz’ have reached levels that indicate the show has matured as the premier regional boating and lifestyle show.
“We are particularly pleased to note that significant regional players such as Taiwan’s Horizon Yachts and Singapore’s Boat Asia will use PIMEX to launch their marketing campaigns,” said Andy Dowden of PIMEX organizers Image Asia Events, who added that visitor numbers are set to reach a record 5-6,000.

PIMEX MANAGING DIRECTOR APPOINTED MAT CHAIRMAN
At a recent meeting of the Marine Alliance (Thailand) - [MAT], Grenville Fordham, managing director of Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) organisers, Image Asia Events, was elected Chairman of the industry group. Fordham replaces Sunsail's Kevin Quilty, who led MAT for the past year.

PIMEX 2005 DATES ANNOUNCED
PIMEX 2005 will be held once gain at the Phuket Boat Lagoon marina, this year from 8th to 11th December 2005.
Following the great success of PIMEX 2004 the layout will be similar with space for 85 booths in the air-conditioned main hall, 3000 sq metres of outside display area and 30 in water berths. As an addition to display options a limited number of private VIP pavilions will be made available.

PHUKET'S SECOND BOAT SHOW ACHIEVES RECORD SALES
Orders transacted and finalised during the four days of Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) 2004, held from 9 to 12 December, totalled more than US$2.0 million with a further US$7.0 million of enquiries that exhibitors are confident will result quickly in sales. Many more exhibitors reported strong leads, while the surge in upcoming marina construction accounted for a further US$12.0 million written quotations in that sector alone.
