PIMEX takes on new look for 2004

PIMEX 2004, the second Phuket Boating, Leisure & Lifestyle Show, is 60% booked with four months to go. The first hall is full and other prime space is going fast.

Exhibitors at this showcase for Thailand's boating, property and leisure industries include developers, real estate agents and - of course - Thailand's marine leisure industry players. Local companies are joined by exhibitors in the marine, leisure and lifestyle businesses from around the region and as far away as Europe, USA and Australia.

Following the success of the first show in December 2003, capacity has been increased significantly, and feedback from first year supporters acted on to improve the show.

Airconditioned space in marquees has been increased from 680 sq m to 1,000 sq m - with additional air conditioned VIP tents available waterside. 'Dead end' marquees - criticized by some exhibitors as restricting visitor circulation have gone - while the layout and enclosure of the hardstand and on-water display areas as been markedly improved.

While the show retains a 'lifestyle' section - non-marine exhibitors are welcome to take space in the main halls. The impressive Lee Marine/Watermark display of Rivieras and Ferrettis - something of a 'sideshow' in 2003 - is an integral part of PIMEX 2004.

Not only has the show grown in size, but in stature too. While exhibitors at PIMEX 2003 took a cautious 'let see what it's like' approach, this year will see several using the show as a launch platform.

Products to be unveiled at PIMEX 2004 include the sleek Asian Classic from Latitude 8, the new Buzz Eight sportsboat and North Sea Yachts' amazing 65 knot pure pleasure craft from Indonesia.

Royal Phuket Marina, who recently launched their marina concept in Bangkok, will use PIMEX as their practical launch pad, taking visitors by boat into the newly completed luxury marina basin to view their luxury waterside apartments and villas.

Vistors to PIMEX 2004 are expected to come from all over the region, including Bangkok. The PIMEX overseas advertising campaign has already started, and the national campaign aimed at attracting visitors begins in October with a Bangkok media launch. National advertising and editorial will be supplemented by extensive promotion to visitors and residents in Phuket.

With double the number of boats in the water, almost double the number of booths, and a successful first year show 'in the bank', PIMEX 2004 is leading Asia's marine leisure development.
