PIMEX 2007 saw just over 4,000 visitors attend the show during four days, 2,300 of which were registered as trade visitors. For PIMEX purposes, trade visitors are defined as those in the marine industry, the property or leisure industries, or those who already own boats.
Numbers were down in 2008 due to the airport closure in Bangkok but those that did attend ( over 2,000 were serious candidates and the exhibitors made good sales figures.
PIMEX, as a waterfront marine and island lifestyle show, appeals to a broad cross-section of visitors, from marine trade buyers to hotel/resort management to tourists with an interest in marine leisure to Thai nationals and ex-pats exploring the possibility of owning or chartering a boat, PIMEX is the place to be in January 2010.
At least 20 boats were sold during the PIMEX 2007 and 2008. Dealers and brokers all reported new contacts made and strong leads to follow up from serious buyers.
- The following is based on analysis of PIMEX 2008 visitors:
- All regional marine trade, including boat builders and charterers
- High-earning Bangkok residents (Thai and expatriate)
- Thailand's industrial marine market
- Potential buyers from region: Singapore, KL, Manila, Jakarta,.Hong Kong
- Hotel and resort management / buyers
- Potential international visitors in Phuket on vacation or business (approx 30,000 hotel rooms)
- King’s Cup Regatta participants (boat owners, skippers, VIPs)
- Boat charter operators, agents and clients
- Regional and local yachting, lifestyle and general media
